What We Collect
When you use theysay, we collect:
- Account information: Email address and password (encrypted) when you create an account
- Content you create: Quotes, child names, ages, and mood selections you enter into the app
- Usage data: Anonymous analytics about how you use the app (screens visited, features used) to help us improve
What We Don't Collect
- We do not collect precise location data
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or camera without explicit permission
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising
- We do not use your content to train AI models
How We Use Your Data
- To provide and maintain the theysay service
- To sync your quotes across devices (if using theysay+)
- To share quotes with your Family Circle members (only people you invite)
- To send you important service updates (you can opt out of marketing emails)
- To improve the app through anonymous, aggregated analytics
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted on AWS) with encryption at rest and in transit. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information.
Children's Privacy
theysay is designed for parents and guardians to record things their children say. The app is intended for use by adults (age 13+). We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. All content is created and managed by the parent/guardian account holder.
Your Rights
You can:
- Export all your data at any time from within the app
- Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us or through app settings
- Update your information at any time in your account settings
